About Asia Asia is the largest continent in the world, both in land mass and in population. Asia consists of many large countries including China, Russia, India, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Japan, Pakistan, North and South Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, and many more. With the continent covering such a vast area, the climate also greatly varies from the cold and blustery winters of Russia to the extreme heat in South Korea. The land mass of Asia spans over 17 million square miles and has a population of nearly 4 billion. Asia also has the most populated nation in China which has 1.3 billion inhabitants in itself. A couple of little fun facts about Asia is that it holds about 60% of the world's population and two countries have over half of Asia's population (India and China). Also, both the highest (Mt. Everest) and the lowest (Dead Sea) points in the world both lie in Asia. |
Cimate Action Network South Asia Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA), has been on the driving seat to pursue “climate change and development” issues both internally within the region and outside the region. It has been a great challenge as well as opportunity for CANSA to continue with a credible platform so that South Asian civil societies could come together and speak out on climate change issues. as found on www.cansouthasia.net |
Terrorism in Asia
Asia is probably one of the biggest if not the biggest home to terrorism. With countries like Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and India the terrorism has become a huge problem for Asians and the rest of the world. Home to Al-Queda, Asia is constricted by the constant threat of terrorist acts and has been emerged in the war on terror since 2001. There's also the constant threat of fighting between communists and democrats. The threat of North Korea using nuclear warfare has been around for several years and the UN is working to keep them from using the nuclear weapons.
Terrorism in Asia is a major conflict for the continent and the world and needs to be stopped. The United States and the United Nations are doing everything that they can to counter the terrorism and need all the help that they can get. This will be an ongoing battle that can hopefully be ended or suppressed.

All About China
China is one of the largest and most populated nations in the world. They are a communist nation located in southeastern Asia that is under the power of dictator, Hu Jintao. Due to their large population and power, China is a permanent member of the UN's Security Council. Since they are considered on of the world's super powers, they share the Security Council with the United States, France, Britain, and Russia
As for the people of China, they are extremely cultured and strict as to how they live their lives. Their religion dictates most of how they live and how they go about their day. One weird fact about China is that they are only allowed to have one child per family because they have to control their population. Some Chinese families will actually kill off their daughters in order to have a son be that one child. Like in most countries, males are the dominant sex in China. Women are really used as housewives and cooks around the house. Chinese food is very healthy consisting of a lot of greens and small portion sizes. Chinese food is popular all around the world, especially in America.
